we be rollin…

in veggies that is!

i’m excited because today i officially signed up for a CSA (community supported agriculture).

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a way to create a direct connection between people who like to eat fresh, local produce and the farm that grows it. The CSA model is an economically viable way for small scale farmers to produce a wide variety of high quality vegetables in an earth-friendly way. CSA fosters responsible relationships between the grower, the consumer, the food, and the land on which the food is grown.

(source)

you pay the farm up front for your share, then each week the farm fills a box with fruits and veggies of their choosing, and we pick up our box at a location in portland.

our family is going to share a “harvest share” with my friend at work and her family. there are so many farms to choose from in the portland area!! we decided on one whose program goes for 26 weeks, and offers vegetables and fruit.

go here and scroll down for a sample of what a season looks like.

we love the farmers market, but i’m even more excited about having a “share” of a farm b/c we will get a variety of fruits and vegetables each week. i know this means we will constantly be trying new things, eating organic, and supporting a local farm. of course we will still go to the farmers market for extra fruits/veggies, meat, and eggs.

although the veggies won’t start rolling in until june, NOW is the time to sign up for your share, as many places sell out quick… so if you’re interested, i would highly recommend looking into the CSA offerings in your neck of the woods!

all this food TALK… how bout some photos!?!?

i finally restocked on spinach, and all the green monster talk at caitlin’s “house” left me with a serious craving!! so as soon as i got home from the gym this morning, i went to work!

secret green monster on the left (with cocoa powder so the teen doesn’t know he’s getting spinach)
green monster w/ chocolate protein powder for anne in the middle
and my “sludge” on the right (1 c. unsweetened almond milk, 2 c. spinach, lots of frozen cherries, ice) YUM

while i was swirling around the kitchen, i also managed to pack my lunch, which was actually last night’s leftovers:

salad = more spinach, roasted red pepper, baby carrots, mushrooms, feta, and deliciousness

entree = brown rice cooked in light coconut milk and extra firm tofu “planks” that had been marinated in tj’s “island soyaki” and thrown into a saute situation

i wasn’t full, so a couple hours later i inhaled (thus, there is no photo) a fuji apple and small dollop of PB

while i nursed a headache this evening, anne was kind enough to make a pretty scrumptious dinner and even played photographer!!

tj’s cucumber potsticker things anne wanted to try…. FAIL! they were just… weird!
roasted brussells and asparagus that were so good (we are fans of the skinny asparagus up in here)
boca burger with mozz, roasted red pepper, spinach, and avocado on a sandwich thin.

and that’s that…

but before you go…

i spy…

doxie bootayyyyy!!

hahahaha

given that my foggy/achey head is not getting any better… i think i’ll take a page from this dude’s book…

and pass out!

i’m just so excited about owning a “share” of a local farm… is this something you have done? or would do?
i’m a little nervous about getting veggies that i don’t know what to do with, but i’m guessing in the internet age, i’ll be able to find plenty of recipes for everything they throw at me…???

a day in eats…

i figured, more for myself than anything else, it was time to document a complete day of eats. but before i dive into that, a little randomness:

i hope no one missed the “double mctwist 1260” wednesday night!?!?!

shaun white kicked some serious olympic bootay in the halfpipe… he is unbelievable!!

JUST SAYIN

ok that’s all… let’s get to the grub!

well i started with a cup o’ sludge in the awesomely tacky square dancing mug!

the other day when my friend nakia and i went on our whole foods lunch adventure, i picked up a few little things, one of them being chobani. i see it all over el mundo de blogs, but i had never tried it before (i usually eat stonyfield oikos or TJ’s greek yogurt), but since i was at whole foods i figured i’d give the chobani a whirl.

0% pomegranate chobani, 1 serving bare naked fit vanilla almond granola, and a few frozen organic cherries (also from whole foods)… overall a good combo, but i think i would have preferred it with regular yogurt instead of flavored.

i know i’ve said this before, but the bear naked fit almond vanilla granola is so good… check out the whole almonds in it!

nakia and i went for a walk during lunch today. look what greeted us!!!

the sun found portland!!

you know you’re from portland when……. you encounter the sun shining in february and say, “whoa, where did that come from??”

the 45 minute walk or so made for a great lunch adventure. adding that to the interval elipticizer workout i did at the gym this morning, i’m going to go ahead and admit that i feel good about my activity level today!!

i hadn’t packed lunch, so after our walk i stopped at Spoons and got their veggie wrap, which they say is served on lavash, but once i got it back into work and opened it up it was actually just a wheat tortilla… LAME!

despite getting screwed with the tortilla, this wrap was really good. they put a light curry sauce on it… i ate the first half with the tortilla, but the second half i opened up and just ate the guts.

about 3 p.m. i started to encounter a gentle but increasingly annoying growl in the tum, so i silenced the lil buggar with the other half of my pb&j larabar

yes, i had it closed up with a binder clip… i am so totally opposed to stale food… i don’t even like to risk it. SEAL IT UP!

when i got home i was hungry, but not quite as hungry as porter…

(no charge for the shot of my super cool retro kitchen floor)

he cracks me up when he eats!
totally sprawled out, face straight in the bowl…

the boy has no shame!!

anyhooo… i didn’t want to eat dinner at 5:30 b/c there’s no way i would last the rest of the night without getting into snack after snack after …. you get the idea.

so instead i had a snack

baby carrots with mango/peach salsa.

it was good, but random, and awkward to eat. baby carrots don’t scoop salsa very well…

i also had an un-pictured Tj’s light string cheese.

i knocked the last real world off the dvr, did some other stuff, ummm i guess i can’t really remember. clearly all i was thinking about was dinner, which as it turns out… was part deliciousness, part random.

random:

we love these little chippers! i suppose we should run it by the undisputed chip queen at GDW, but my guess is she would give them a thumbs up…

and for chips, i don’t think they have bad stats

and the deliciousness!!

dave’s killer bread, organic dijon, TJ’s artichoke hearts, TJ’s fire roasted red pepper, and feta mixed with a tiny bit of light sour cream (helps the feta become more like a spread, rather than crumbling and falling all over the place)

this sammy was really good! i had seen caitlin say a couple times that artichokes had a meatyness (obviously i’m not quoting her given that “meatyness” is definitely not a real word) that made them super satisfying. she’s right! plus they just taste so rich, even though they are so low in calories!

YUM!

i polished off the evening with a mock POMtini… sometimes you need a real POMtini… but tonight, just a little soda water, POM and splash of lime did the trick!

so there you have it… a day of every single thing that made its way into my belly.

how’d i do??

not so mad iPhone skillz

sup suckas!?!

so last night, the teen was monopolizing my right arm (aka macbook) so that he could get his homework on… i had a brilliant idea to just post a little blog entry from my iPhone. OMG i’m a genius!! i’ve got mad skillz!!

ummm i either couldn’t or was too dumb to figure out how to post photos from my iPhone… a blog post with no photos? PASS

so here i am this morning to do a quick recap of yesterday’s happs… my hair is wet and i’m supposed to leave the house in about 20 minutes, so this is going to be snappy and most likely, kinda lame.

don’t say i didn’t warn you!

breakfast…

desk drawer oats, splash of ff hazelnut creamer, dollop peanut butter… i stirred in the PB before i thought to take a photo

lunch

i took my friend nakia on her first tour de whole foods during lunch, and we partook of the HOT BAR. chile verde chicken over lettuce with cheese and cilantro/onion…
O
M
G
if there’s chile verde chicken perfection, whole foods found it!

i have a feeling nakia and i will be making the trek to the hot bar more often, as she was pretty much overtaken with joy upon entering the healthy living mothership!

later i enjoyed half of my first ever larabar

after work i hopped the train and headed up to Portland State so my ol pal JR could give me a ride home since anne had a meeting, and i was therefore, stranded downtown.

i used to ride the train everyday when i lived in the ‘burbs… yesterday reminded me of how good the people watching and listening others’ conversations is on the train!! haha

walking to JR’s office i was also reminded…

i love these bikeracks that appear all over the city…

a lil bit of trivia for you…

did you know 30% of portland commuters do so via bicycle??

and while it has caused some “share the road” issues, i think it’s fabulous and i don’t mind sharing…

it was pretty much farley and i at home last night, so i made some dinner

tj’s whole grain bun, boca shroom/mozz veggie burger, pickle, spinach, feta

i added some carrots with a drizzle of low fat ranch

photo after my first bite… oopsie!

and a ginormous orange…

i watched the olympics (i’ve become a fan of snowboard cross) and farley…

well, farley was really busy…

the olympics… what’s your take? summer or winter? favorite events??

i used to love figure skating, but this time around i’m finding i am enjoying the skiing (with the exception of the event where they ski with the rifles strapped to their backs)… and i’m really excited for the half pipe!!

let’s go let’s go let’s GO!!

that’s what farley was saying this evening, when i strapped him into his harness for his FIRST WALK since having back surgery!!

we went for a short walk (although he wanted to cruise the entire city of portland)… i noticed after about a block that he was trying to go too fast, so he would kind of skip and pick up his right back leg b/c it couldn’t keep up. i decided that meant it was time to head back… baby steps little boy… baby steps.

if you look close, you can see the scar down his back… it’s no joke!

but that was this evening…

i really need to start with last night…

which is when some dudes came to deliver my new bed. once they got it set up i was thinking, ummm i’m not sure this is the bed that i ordered, but i second guessed myself, and didn’t say anything. so i went to bed last night, and immediately knew O MAR COD, this is NOT the bed i bought! it was as hard as a rock! i was SO annoyed, didn’t sleep well, and woke up this morning with a totally achey body!

i know, i know, such dramatics! but i am a soft bed girl, and simply cannot stand hard beds!

waking up on the wrong side of the bed on a wooden plank, i knew i needed two things:

SPICY OATS

COFFEE W/ ABE

work was nutso, so by the time i escaped to make the trek to khao man gai, i had no idea where my phone was, and never took a photo… but you can read all about nong and her vietnamese street food crack HERE, and it’s worth it… it was IN-CRED-IBLE, per the usual!!

i’d like to wipe the rest of the day from my memory, sooooo moving right along…

when i left the building today i was so excited to see some color sprouting from the bare wintery trees…

it’s mind bottling how you can see this…

then right next to it…

spring is a comin and there’s nada like spring in PTizzle!

i got home to find the bed fairy had solved our problems, and my SOFT heavenly pillow top bed was in the room and made… i seriously contemplated going to bed at 6 p.m.!

the new bed is significantly higher than the old one, so the side tables look lame, and the new bedding doesn’t really jive with the picture anymore (i know challise, the pictures screams IKEA)… so that needs to disappear too. it’s ok though… i am so excited about my new slumber zone!

farley on the other hand… he and monkey are NOT happy about the new bed height!

anne was one of the lucky ones today, and didn’t have to work, so she was kind enough to make dinner!

while she was doin her thang, my lunch was loooong gone and i was starvin, so i snacked on two sticks of crack

and some new baked chips anne scored today, with surprisingly decent health stats… for chips!

serving size = 20 chips
calories = 120
fat = 3
fiber = 2
protein = 2
(given the flavor is SALT n vinegar, we won’t talk about the sodium content… mmm k?)

i only had a couple chips b/c i wanted to make sure i was sufficiently hungry… anne was makin a bomb ass dinner!

from the new “cooking light“… anne made mine with feta (i don’t dig the blue fuzzy cheeses)

the buffalo “sauce” (anne made it more chunky like a pico/salsa) was SO good… and the brussels went perfectly with it (just cooked on the stove with a tiny bit of olive oil and salt/pepper)

delicioso!!!

well, that’s it! duty calls… i finally finished season 2 of Damages, so now i’m going to get a little closer to caught up by watching the first episode of season 3…

if you do not watch “Damages“… you need to get seasons 1 and 2 PRONTO. it’s genius!! and glenn close RULES!

peace

back to liiiife, back to reality

anyone remember that song!??!

we all survived the drama of the past couple weeks, and are getting back into the swing of things at home.

i dumped over 200 photos off the camera (don’t worry i’m not in turn dumping ALL of them on you)… so i figured a post of updates at random is in order:

RANDOM outdoor fun in cle elum, washington

grandpa denny’s pups

ray (known as “all the way ray” given that he’s rockin 3 legs)

zoey

and belle, she was grandpa denny’s favorite pup… she went everywhere with him…

she’s SO cute… i wanted to bring her home with us so bad…

salads

anne’s hilarious/adorable nephew david requested a photo shoot

a kiwi’s first trip to the states… first pup snuggle, first snowmobile, first snow, first family memorial

(above is proof that no matter what country you’re from… the women will bitch at you if you mess up their photo)

our cute doggies

and… shout outs for denny

the day denny passed away, anne and i enjoyed a tanqueray and tonic in his honor…

his memorial was in cle elum, washington… a place quite different from portland… many a 3/4 ton pickup truck etc.

(i learned that the huge stump at the entrance of denny’s property was actually on his old piece of land… he thought it was so neat that he had his guys haul it over when he bought this new property)

it’s been a crazy couple weeks, and while it felt odd to not be posting anything on a regular basis, i felt like i needed to devote time and energy elsewhere for a while.

but now we’re all getting back to reality, and i’m looking forward to getting back into a normal routine… which included getting back to the gym this morning!

and on that note, i must get to sleep so i can get my morning sweat on again tomorrow.

i leave you with this lil gem….

there are popular bumper stickers here that say…

KEEP PORTLAND WEIRD…

i’m not sure if it’s good or bad, but i’ve never had to stop and think about what that bumper sticker means…

see you tomorrow!!

keeping ourselves busy

since we got the news about farley boy’s serious back injury, we’ve been trying to keep ourselves busy.

we’ve been entering to win a fun giveaway compliments of the fabulous GC

engaging in home improvement therapy…

(i think carpet is yucky, especially since we have pets, so when we bought this house and pulled up the carpet, for some reason, WHO KNOWS WHY, there is a section of the hardwoods that had been damaged with a paint sprayer!?!? your guess is as good as mine..)

working on our skills for puppy class…

munching on apples…

trying a little eggy twist on the beloved GDW spicy oats

sneaking greens into the teen’s smoothies…

then last night i headed south to spend some time with oregon’s cutest girls!!

i even caught a great little sunset on the way…

(not bad for photos taken with the iphone while i was driving)

i had already planned to spend saturday evening with the ladies of the pea household, and really, there are no better girls to be able to hang with when you’re feeling down!

i mean, who wouldn’t want to have dinner prepared by a maiden and a ballerina??

well, with a little help from mama pea…

and lulu chilled with a skinny cow…

these girls are SO cute, and i adore spending time with them… it was just what i needed last night.
THANKS PEA GIRLIES!!!

after a fun night, my morning continued with my first brunch food gasm!!

the teen was begging for real meat (*insert chest pounding and grunting*), so i promised breakfast sandwiches with meat

(everything is better with Tillamook Cheese)

i had help sampling the canadian bacon…

i love breakfast sandwiches, and this one was SUPA TASTY

the first bite of this sandwich i took, i actually said, outloud, “oh my gosh… YUMMM”
i checked with the boss, G$, and she confirmed… it’s a food gasm!!

so i guess, given the circumstances, it’s been a pretty good weekend.

in fact, it’s about to get even better….

football, blue moon, and a greexican (greek/mexican) snack plate that i hope would make the kick ass Snackface proud!!

FINALLY… THANK YOU SO MUCH for your encouraging/supportive words about farley!! we have definitely decided to get him the surgery, no matter what it takes… even if we have to start having blog bake sales and lemonade stands to raise the dough!!!

feelin the burn

well, i took the plunge!

noooo i’m not married… it aint gonna happen people!

but i did; however, get on the scale this morning… wrote the number down, subtracted from the goal and was left with a disgustingly large number.
ughhhhhhh… seriously!?!??!
do you ever stop and wonder… how did i get here??

BUT, that being said… i was proud of myself… b/c i marched out of the bathroom and got on with my day!!

a tip of the proverbial hat to mama pea for suggesting that i a) magic bullet up the spinach and almond milk for my smoothie before adding anything else and 2) shaking the magic bullet when it gets stuck (if anyone official from magic bullet reads this… i NEVER shook the magic bullet while using it… my friend suggested this and i told her i was pretty sure that was not recommended and that b/c i cared so much for my magic bullet, i would NOT engage in said activity… oh wait… like anyone official from anywhere reads this blog… hahahahahaha alas, it was fun to pretend!)

ANYHOOOO… the result…

– spinach
– chocolate almond milk
– greek yogurt
– blueberries
– ice

then continuing my productive morning, i packed my lunch!! look at me goooo!!

pretty good huh?
right, well, i never ate it… b/c i totally forgot the food cart “big ass sandwiches” (that’s right) was donating 100% of their profits and tips to the relief effort in Haiti today, i, well, i…. they were donating the profits to Haiti!

suffice it to say it was a big.ass.sandwich! i took off half the bread though… that’s gotta count for something, right??

ok so LUNCH = HEALTHY LIVING FAIL

BUT… i’m confident i made up for it when i hit the gym tonight… i was ready to roll, and elipticized my a** off for 25 minutes pretty much as hard as i could go with varying intensity for those 20 minutes, and then i switched it over to the treadmill (ughhhhhh the freaking treadmill) and walked for another 20 minutes, varying from walking fast at a mellow incline and then walking a little slower but at a much steeper incline…

I AM FEELIN THE BURN!!!

after the gym, i sucked down a LOT of water, stretched, and dove face first into dinner!

anne was super nice and made one of my favs… taco salads!

we snagged this salsa at whole foods tonight and it’s definitely a keeper!!

and in case anyone is wondering who makes the best guacamole in the history of the world… the answer is ANNE!

okayyyyy so now it’s thursday morning… for some reason my internet just went completely down last night, right before i posted… what the!?!?!?

but that’s ok b/c it allowed me to wake up STARVING this morning, and inspired to throw down a KATIE inspired banana hammock!!

perfectly ripe (interpretation slightly green) banana, drizzled with almond butter, dusted with dark chocolate cocoa powder and a few crushed up pretzels…

and i’m out…

not built for speed

some people…

are not built for speed!

yesterday morning porter and i set out for a walk through gabriel park

i’d like to be able to say it was a nice bit of exercise, but with this person on board…

i’d say it’s more of a… meander!?!? it was still a good walk though, and we got home just in time to meet the plumber, who was a jerk and told us we needed all new pipes and good luck asking our home warranty to cover it.
ok then.. nice having you… BYE!

luckily my college friend ash came by shortly after that with her cute Cute CUTE daughter london!

london proceeded, at 18 months old, to operate my iPhone…

i mean, she was actually working the iPhone… london could unlock the phone, then she would open an application. ashlee would say, “close it” and london knew the button to hit to close the application she had open. then ashlee says, “where are the photos” and london scrolls over, and hits the icon for my photos! HILARIOUS!

seeing ash always makes me happy… and london is SO cute!! she pretty much has the blondest hair i’ve ever seen!

after they left anne and i made our way cleeeeeeear to the other side of portland to meet JR and Nikki at a local store to check out some flooring and tile for home projects.

JR was up to his usual antics…

we just looked around, no decisions were made. i do kind of think these bubble tiles would be fun for a backsplash though…

we also had to go to home depot and the grocery store, so we stopped by the house to scoop up fuzzy… home depot is good for socialization for the pup (he’s always a big hit!)

porter was super excited to ride in the car…

we cruised through uwajimaya (if you live in portland and don’t shop here, knock it off! go check it out!)

we decided to throw together an udon dinner

it was simple, but SO good

*udon noodles
*broccoli
*bean sprouts
*celery
*rock shrimp (uwajimaya has such good fresh seafood)
*sauce was really basic… miso paste mixed with a little water, tamari, garlic

we capped off the night with a movie and a little bottle of sparkling sake we also snagged at uwajimaya

if you live around here and haven’t yet discovered sake… knock it off!
make the trip to sake one in forest grove. they are SO nice, knowledgeable, and you’ll be surprised how good sake can be!

i’ll leave you with a little apology… for my craptastic photos as of late. as you may recall, my sister dumped an entire pomtini all over my little camera, and i’m still a little shy when it comes to hauling my bigger but superior camera around with me. after seeing the above display though, i promise to cut it out with the iPhone photos (at least for the most part)!!

i can eat the “whole bowl”???

so i’ve been absent a couple days. the short story is that it’s been a rough weekend, which started with too much of this:

photo-3

and ended with GUILT and FRUSTRATION… no photo necessary there.

anyway, i took some time this weekend. i know i have to give myself a break and just keep trying to do better, but sometimes it’s HARD. so i did some relaxing, thinking, and attempting to get back to center.

i did have a review of sorts to discuss though! i said a few weeks ago that i wanted to make an effort to lead a much healthier life, but that i did not want that quest to mean i had to give up being a part of the culture and the city that i love.

i reviewed an aspect of portland culture -here-, and had so much fun with it that i wanted to do it again!

enter, the whole bowl

Whole Bowl CR

i’d heard a lot about this portland food cart, but decided it was time to give it a whirl!
so anne and i braved a portland downpour, and headed that way for lunch.

the whole bowl is pretty much just that…

photo-61

it tells you what’s in it…

photo-20

– brown rice
– sour cream
– olives
– avocado
– cilantro
– tali sauce
– cheddar cheese
– salsa
– black & red beans

so i ordered it straight up (no additions or deletions)…

photo-71

i mixed it all together, and dove in…

photo-81

i was a little worried about the “tali sauce” given that it’s a “secret”… i wasn’t sure if it had any sort of cream in it, which would make it a little heavy for me… but i heard the guy behind me order it “dairy free” and that only eliminated the sour cream and cheese. i was curious about the “tali sauce” so i read up on it and it seems it is vegan as well as gluten free!! i was SO excited to hear that b/c i knew that meant it obviously was not made with a heavy cream, and that’s excellent news b/c the tali sauce IS EXCELLENT!

i was also a little worried about whether the one bowl of food would be filling… ummm no problems there! i was completely full, and stayed that way for a long time.

yep, i ate THE WHOLE BOWL, and it was fantastico!!

photo-91

i said above that i took some time to CENTER this weekend, so i want to close with the following:

i actually started thinking about this the other day at work when i was looking out one of our office windows.

i looked east and found:

photoz

extremely stormy weather

then to my surprise i looked west and found:

photo-1

beautiful blue skies!

i sat there for a minute thinking about how much prettier the blue sky was, i even started to zone out, when someone else came into the room and called me out on my window gazing. i pointed out to him how strange it was that the sky looked so miserable to the right, and so beautiful to the left.

and then he said, “yes, but look at what is straight ahead”…

photo-2

the rainbow

i realized i’d been so wrapped up in considering blue skies v. thunderstorms that i completely missed the center, which was right in front of me.

so tonight i leave with this:

i have to remember that balance is the center. i too often get caught in the extremes… feeling dark and stormy and then wanting to swing completely the other way and find bright blue sky.

when in fact… the rainbow exists between the extremes… in the center

bring on the socks

photo-5

i’ve never been so happy to be greeted by two big bags of thick socks!!
ok, so i’m not sure i’ve ever been greeted by bags of socks at all, but if i had… today would beat them all!

i’m joining my friends mary and melissa this saturday to hand out warm clothes in portland, but in particular, SOCKS. so if anyone would like to donate, please contact me… the cold wet weather is here, and something as simple as a pair of socks can make all the difference!

i was in such a good bags of socks-induced mood i decided today deserved a fancy red cup:

bizzles

-tall coffee
-1 pump of pumpkin spice
-a splash of soy

i love when i only ask for one pump and a splash… so the cute barista doesn’t charge me any extra. the good vibes just kept coming!

so i grabbed my breakfast and headed to my desk

breakfast

-bear naked fit vanilla almond granola
-TJ’s plain 0% greek yogurt
-frozen organic mango pieces (i do love mango so)

when lunchtime came around…

IMG_2477

-go beavs iced tea with a sprinkle of truvia
-cottage cheese and pineapple
-roasted kabocha with tahini and a drizzle of honey (the first bite i had of this little concoction was kind of odd, but then for some reason, the second bites and beyond were SO GOOD)

i had such a good lunch, but then later in the afternoon, time was just dragging on. i swear it was 3 pm forEVER today. then suddenly i returned to my desk from some random stroll around the office (probably for no reason) and found a little present on my desk!!

chocolate

isn’t it just the cutest little box? i had NO idea what it was for, but i most certainly busted right into it and found a starbizzles card *insert little happy dance* and…

photo-9

chocolate? for meee??? i would have never guessed court reporting companies would work so hard to get your business, but apparently… they do!

i saved one little “kiss” and passed the rest out to my friends. there’s no way i’m letting those little buggars stick around my desk!

for dinner tonight i knew i needed to use up some cauliflower that has been sitting around for just under too long… so i started hacking into it, while visions of sugarplums potential cauliflower dishes danced in my head…

IMG_2516

ok ok, i decided i would give mashed cauliflower a whirl (NOTE: this is big for me b/c i’m from idaho… i’m so NOT down with imposter mashed potatoes).

-i steamed a head of cauliflower with just some seasoning salt sprinkled on top for about 20 minutes, then tossed it in the food processor, with
-1 tbsp plain greek yogurt
-3 small cloves of garlic, minced
-1/2 tbsp fresh chopped rosemary
-salt and pepper to taste

IMG_2522

“processed” it until smooth

IMG_2526

the texture of the cauliflower mash is a little different… but the incredible taste more than made up for it!

the rest of dinner was sliced up cucumber and beets (i love these beets from TJ’s)

IMG_2524
(yes, i know i have flash issues, but the point is… these beets are good)

and my new most favoritest veggie burgers!

IMG_2518

i found these gems at Fred’s.. and they by far are the heartiest and tastiest veg burgs…

IMG_2525

i toasted 1/2 a flat out and used it for the bun, which i wasn’t sure would work, but it was really good… thin and crunchy!

IMG_2532

since tomorrow night is the over the rhine / katie herzig show we’ve been waiting for … i’m going to do next to nothing the rest of the night.

so i leave you with a little shot from the city i love…

IMG_2469
